This Council has seven districts. It serves Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts.

• CACHALOT DISTRICT - Serving Acushnet, Dartmouth, East Freetown, East Wareham, Fairhaven, Freetown, Marion, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, North Dartmouth, Onset, Rochester, South Dartmouth, and Wareham, Massachusetts.

• MASSASOIT DISTRICT - Serving Little Compton and Tiverton, Rhode Island. Also Assonet, Fall River, Somerset, Swansea, and Westport, Massachusetts.

• NETOP DISTRICT - Serving Capitol City, Centerdale, Chepachet, Chopmist, Cranston, Esmond, Foster, Garden City, Georgiaville, Glocester, Graniteville, Greenville, Harmony, Hope, Johnston, North Providence, North Scituate, Providence, Scituate, and Smithfield, Rhode Island

• POKANOKET DISTRICT - Serving Barrington, Bristol, East Providence, Fort Adams, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Riverside, Rumford, Warren, and West Barrington, Rhode Island. Also Rehoboth, Seekonk, and North Seekonk, Massachusetts.

Council Merger History

• In 2001 the Moby Dick Council was mergered into the Narragansett Council.

• In 1972 the Moby Dick Council was formed by a merger of the Cachalot Council (New Bedford, Massachusetts) and the Massasoit Council (Fall River, Massachusetts).

Occupies 200 acres and has an extra large lake that offers swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing, motor boating and skiing (motor boats are not supplied by the camp). They offer tent camping, an activity field for atheletics and camporees, boats and/or canoes for overnight groups, and a Cub Scout Day Camp program.

• From Route 1 South, take Route 138 West passing by the University of Rhode Island on the right side. Take a left onto Route 110 (Ministerial Road). Aquapaug is on the right side approximately 5 miles South on Route 110.
  From Route 95, take Route 138 East (exit 3A), and take a right onto Route 110 (Ministerial Road is the first traffic light beyond the Route 2 traffic light). Aquapaug is on the right side approximately 5 miles South on Route 110.

Occupies 1,600 acres and is located by Wakefield Pond (50 or more acres). They offer swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing. They offer tent campsites, winter cabins for overnight groups, family camping, an activity field for atheletics and camporees, boats and/or canoes for overnight groups.

• From Providence or Route 295, travel West on Route 44 to Chepachet. Turn right onto Route 100 North, and follow the signs to Zambarano Hospital. Countinue through Pascoag on Route 100 North until you see the State sign for Connecticut 12. Take a left onto Buck Hill Road, and take the first left past the State Fire Watch Tower onto Wakefield Pond Road. Buck Hill is located at the end of Wakefield Pond Road.

This camp was named after the Cachalot Boy Scout Council that originally owned it (See Merger History Above). This camp was established in 1946, it occupies 880 acres and is located on Abner's Pond, Five-Mile Pond and Little Five Mile Pond. They offer swimming, boating, canoeing and possible limited sailing. They offer tent camping, Adirondack (lean-to) shelters, winter cabins, an activity field for atheletics and camporees, boats and/or canoes for overnight groups, a Cub Scout Day Camp program, a dining hall and patrol cooking during summer camp and a High Adventure Program.

Directions to Camp

• From the West (New Bedford/Fall River): Take Route I-195 East to Route I-495 North. Take Route I-495 North to Route 58 North, then follow the rest of the last directions below.

• From the North (Taunton): Take Route I-495 South to Route 58 North, then follow the rest of the last directions below.

• From the South, (Cape Cod & The Islands): Take Route I-495 North to Route 58 North to South Carver, then follow the rest of the last directions below.

• LAST DIRECTIONS: Continue straight ahead when Route 58 veers to the left. Travel thru South Carver and turn right onto Cranberry Road and continue into Myles Standish State Forest. At the Forest Headquarters follow the detour signs that continue and circle around the bridge area. Follow the signs towards Fearing Pond and Camp Cachalot. The road to Camp Cachalot is the next right after Charge Pond Road.

Occupies 34 acres and has 3 campsites for primative tent camping. It is bordered by State and private land and an area known as the Great Swamp. There is no drinking water available at the camp, you need to bring your own. You also need to bring your own firewood.

• From Route 95 South: Take Route 4 to Route 1. Take the exit for Route 108 and continue for approximately 3 miles. The exit for the Block Island ferry boat is located at Galilee State Pier across from the Department of Envirinmental Management. • From Route 95 North: Take the North Stonington/Westerly exit #92. Bear right and continue to by-pass (Route 78). Take a left, continue to the end of the by-pass and then take a left onto Route 1. Follow Route 1 to the exit for Route 108 and continue for approximately 3 miles. The exit for the Block Island ferry boat is located at Galilee State Pier across from the Department of Envirinmental Management. • To take the New London Ferry boat: Take Route 95 North to Exit 83 for "Downtown New London". At the second light, go left onto Gov. Winthrop Boulevard. Go left at the end. Yawgoog was established in 1917 and occupies over 1800 acres, has two ponds, and is divided into three (3) "Themed" camps. They are Camps Sandy Beach, Camp Medicine Bow, and Camp Three Point. Each camp offers 8 weeks of Boy Scout Summer Camp and each week has a different THEME, (for a Grand Total of 24 Themes for all three camps or 8 per camp). Each camp is a fully functional independent camp within Yawgoog and has its own camp director, camp staff, dining hall, waterfront, camp sites and amphitheater. Plus each camp's waterfront has a full staff during summer camp. They also have five trading posts located throughout the resevation for snacks, and all your camping and scouting needs. They offer swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. They offer tent camping, Adirondacks (lean-to) shelters, winter cabins, an activity field for atheletics and camporees, and boats and/or canoes for overnight groups, a dining hall and patrol cooking during summer camp, a High Adventure Program, a C.O.P.E. Course, and extended Cub Scout camping. They also have a special "Eagle Camp" to earn the required merit badges not offered in the rest of the camps.

• From Providence take Route 95 South. Take Route 138 West (exit 3B). Travel west through Hope Valley following camp signs. Take a right at the Spring Street Market. Follow Route 138 West to the Yawgoog sign (on the left) and take a left to the main gate.

They offer a 2 night, 3 day camping experience in one of four theme areas: a Medieval Castle (sleeps 48), an Old West Adventure (sleeps 48), or a Pirate High Seas Adventure (sleeps 48)and a Webelos Woods tent camping area. They offer Archery, BB gun shooting, nature, ecology and conservation studies, row boating, paddle boating and fishing on Crater Lake, a pool for swimming and water games like water-volley ball and water basketball, a sports field to play games like soccer, volleyball and ultimate frisbee, a dining hall, a trading post for snacks and camp gadgets, a nightly campfire, hikes and fishing contests for the best anglers on Wakefield Pond.

Order of the Arrow Lodge Information

Abnaki Lodge #102, Section NE-1B

This lodge was formed from a merger of the Narragansett and Moby Dick Councils in 2001. The Neemat Lodege #124 and Wincheck Lodge #534 became the Abnaki Lodge #102.
