Council Geographic Area Information

This Council has three Districts, they are:

• Flintlock District - Serving Bedford, Burlington, Carlisle, Concord, Hanscom Air Force Base, Lexington, Lincoln, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester, and Woburn.

• Great Blue Hill District - Serving Allston, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Brighton, Brookline, Dedham, Dorchester, Dover, Hyde Park, Islington, Jamaica Plain, Milton, Needham, Quincy, Roslindale, South Boston, West Roxbury, and Westwood.

• Sons of Liberty District (The Largest District) - Serving Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, East Boston, Everet, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, Somerville, Waltham, and Watertown.

• 2001 - The Cambridge Council #229 (Cambridge, 1919-2001) and their Kahagon Order of the Arrow Lodge #131 were merged into the Boston Minuteman Council.

• 1993 - The Boston Minuteman Council #227 started from a merger of:

  • Minuteman Council #240 (Stoneham, 1959-1993)

  • Greater Boston Council #227 (Boston, 1980-1993)

• 1959 - The Minuteman Council (Stoneham, 1959-1993) started from a merger of:

The camp occupies 110 acres, and borders the state-owned MDC Blue Hills Reservation, which is made up of more than 5000 acres of woods, hiking trails and paths. Sayre has the one of the best stocked Camp Stores in the Massachusetts area. They have a pond for swimming and offer tent campsites, Adonrondack (lean-to) shelters, and winter cabins for overnight groups, and activity field for athletics and camporees, boats and/or canoes for overnight groups, a Cub Day Camp Program, and a C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Physical Experinece) course. Their 100 seat Dining Hall is fully heated and has a complete kitchen.

This camp occupies 250 acres on Elbow Pond (the pond is 14 acres). From June to September the camp has a full waterfront which includes swimming, row boats, canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and sail boats. The waterfront can only be used if a unit leader has the proper lifeguard certification. The camp is located one mile north of the Cape Cod Canal in Plymouth, MA. They offer tent campsites and winter cabins for overnight groups, an activity field for athletics and camporees, an archery range, a heated 120 seat Dining Hall with complete kitchen and a Trading Post.

• Cub Scout & Webelos Programs Offered Here

  • Webelos Resident Camp - These half-week sessions are open to any boy that will become a Webelos by September 2002. Webelos are usually boys entering or in the fourth or fifth grade. Choose from the weeks of June 21-23 2002 or August 11-17 2002. Activities include swimming, boating, hiking, nature study, playing sports, archery, BB gun shooting and more.

  • Cub Scout Family Camping Weekends for 2002 will be held on June 14-16, June 21-23, July 5-7, August 9-11, October 25-28, and a full week from June 30-July 6. The camp activities include, Swimming, Rowboats, Canoes, Kayaks, Paddleboats, Handicraft, Obstacle Course, Volleyball, Movies, Campfire, Nature Walk, Scavenger Hunt, Archery, BB's, Fishing, and Horseshoes.

The camp occupies 900 acres on Adams Pond (50 or more acres) which offers swimming, boating, canoeing, small boat sailing, plus motor boating and water skiing (motor boats not supplied by camp). The camp offers tent campsites, and winter cabins for overnight groups, family camping, an activity field for athletics and camporees, boats and/or canoes for overnight groups, and a dining hall and patrol cooking during summer camp, High Adventure Programs (extended backpacking and/or canoe trips), and a extended Cub Scout camp program, two archery ranges (target & 3-D), a complete C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Physical Experinece) course, rifle and shotgun ranges, two handicraft centers, a BMX track, and Scoutcraft, Trailblazer and Health and Safety Centers. They also have a Full Service Quartermaster Center with Stoves, Chef Kits, Patrol Boxes, etc. In the winter they offer Cross-Country Skiing Rental equipment for a small fee, FREE Snowshoeing, Ice Fishing on Adams Pond and Sledding. Plus Discounts to Downhill Ski and Tubing at Gunstock Mountain, a 45 minute drive from camp.

• Summer Camp Program
  Their water front offers, Fishing, Sailboating, Kayaking, Windsurfing, Waterskiing, Polar Bear Swim, Water Basketball, Water Polo, BSA Lifeguard, Water Volleyball, Watermelon Tussles, Open Swims, Mile Swim, Snorkeling, Canoeing and Rowing. Field Sports Activities include, Rifle Shoot, Shotgun Trap Shoot, Black Powder Muzzle Loader, 3-D Field Archery, Target Archery, BMX Racing, Mountain Bike Trips, Volleyball, Flickerball and Ultimate Frisbee. At their Handicraft Center you'll find Leatherworking, Basketry, Woodcarving and Tye Dyeing. At their Scoutcraft Center you'll find Pirate's Breakfast, Overnight Outposts, Dutch Oven Cooking, Utencilless Cooking, Tin Foil Cooking, Knot Instruction, Orienteering Treasure Hikes, Low Impact Camping, Lashing and Rope Making Instruction, Totin' Chip, Firem'm Chit, Paul Bunyan Axeman, Wilderness Survival Skills and Pioneering Projects.
